Coaching
Take a step in the right direction
What is coaching?

Coaching is a focused conversation with a trusted partner to develop awareness, create new insights and find clarity for your future path.

Coaching is a solution-focused, self-directed process to assist you in identifying and working toward your professional and personal goals.

The International Coaching Federation defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

My approach is based on brain-based coaching methods from the Neuroleadership Institute, which defines coaching as 'Facilitating positive change by improving thinking.' This framework helps clients deepen their self-awareness and develop new insights for creating lasting change.

Before engaging a coach, it's equally important to understand that coaching is not:

Therapy or counseling - focuses on past challenges or issues.
Coaching focuses on the present and the future.

Consulting - analyzes a problem and provides a solution. Coaching helps you generate your own solutions through self-discovery.
Mentoring - mainly offers advice and expertise in a particular field or industry. Coaching covers a broader scale and focuses on setting objectives and actions to reach a desired outcome defined by the client.

Training - an organization sets the objectives for learning new skills or behaviors. Coaching focuses on the agenda set by the client.

What's my role as your coach?
Providing you with a safe, confidential space for exploration and discovery to help you identify where you are stuck and figure out where you want to go.
Helping you identify and let go of any limiting beliefs or thinking patterns so you can develop a new mindset for positive change.
Being a trusted partner to listen to your story without bias or judgement.
Giving you the support and encouragement to move forward.
What's a coaching session like?

You are in the driver's seat in the coaching partnership and you determine the focus and agenda. A coach is the passenger by your side to help you navigate your path.
Coaching starts with a conversation to define the focus and the desired outcome of the coaching engagement.

Sessions usually last for one hour and take place over a period of 3 to 6 months to give you time to reflect and take action toward your goal.

Clients may also opt for a longer timeframe for support in dealing with a change or a particular topic over time.

Some clients just need a couple of sessions to focus on an urgent matter such as a big decision or dilemma.

Coaching also requires your commitment. Changing your thinking takes time and effort and requires self-reflection, honesty and the willingness to step out of your comfort zone.
